About Me

*Tater has been adopted!*

Hi! My name’s Tater – like “Puh-tater”, but without the “puh.” Heh-heh, see what I did there? Anyhow, this 3-year-old guy ended up in CBHR’s care after I suddenly lost my home. A nice lady took me in, but she couldn’t keep me. My foster mom says I’m a lapdog who prefers being indoors near the people and where it’s comfortable.

I’m energetic, and I happily sleep in my crate where it’s cozy. Now, I’m not perfect. I react when startled and have the potential to nip when awakened suddenly. I’m also growly around other dogs, and I am very leery of men. I don’t remember what in my past made me so afraid, but there you have it.

I don’t like my paws touched, either, but my foster mom is working with me to help build my trust and make me more relaxed in unfamiliar situations. I’m a picky eater but I love the people groceries and will counter cruise if something that smells good is left out. As a basset hound, I also love the sound of my own voice and tend to bark a lot.

My energy level makes me unsuitable for an apartment – I need exercise. And my ideal home would have no small children and no other dogs.

On the positive side, I am housebroken, and I love to snuggle. I don’t like being outdoors too long because the indoors are just sublime!

I have a potential adopter interested in me, but if you think I might be a good fit for your home, contact CBHR and ask about me, Tater! And please have a look around because there are lots of bassets who are still looking for their forever homes.
