About Me
Hi, everyone! They used to call me Rear-Wheel-Drive Sam because a growth on my spine left me unable to use my legs, so they gave me my own set of wheels to help me get around. But I am rear-wheel driving no more! I had surgery to remove as much of the growth as possible, and I am now moving my legs and standing up to eat my meals.
Carolina Basset Hound Rescue’s many amazing donors help dogs like me get the veterinary care we need. My surgery was expensive – about $6,200 – so CBHR’s coffers could use replenishing. Even if you’re not interested in bringing fine a basset pair home, we sure would appreciate it if you feel like making a donation in any amount.
I’m still recovering from surgery and have a few weeks of rest and recuperation ahead, but CBHR will be happy to take adoption inquiries and put you at the on the list. Homer is also a cool dog, although he doesn’t have as interesting a back story – heh, heh, back story, see what I did there? – as me.
My foster mom has been wheeling me around in my wagon to help me get some fresh air, and I’m hoping to soon be strong enough to go on short jaunts under my own four-legged drive.
I’m a very sweet guy, and like Homer, I don’t like loud noises. They startle me. We are both getting comfy in our foster home, and Foster Mom is trying to determine if we are truly bonded or could be adopted separately. I know I don’t like to be left alone, though.
We are still adjusting, but we’d sure like to hear from people interested in a pair of bassets who have a lot to bring to the party.
Contact CBHR and tell them Sam sent you! Aaa-OOOO!
