About Me

*Sam has been adopted, and thanks to generous basset lovers who donated for his surgery, he was able to romp in the snow after the recent snowstorm!*

Hi, everyone! They used to call me Rear-Wheel-Drive Sam because a growth on my spine left me unable to use my legs, so they gave me my own set of wheels to help me get around. But I am rear-wheel driving no more! I had surgery to remove as much of the growth as possible, and I am now doing really well! I get stronger every day!

Carolina Basset Hound Rescue’s many amazing donors help dogs like me get the veterinary care we need. My surgery was expensive – about $6,200 – so CBHR’s coffers could use replenishing. Even if you’re not interested in bringing fine a basset pair home, we sure would appreciate it if you feel like making a donation in any amount.

I’m recovering nicely from surgery and have more healing time ahead, but CBHR will be happy to take adoption inquiries and put you at the on the list.

My foster mom was wheeling me around in my wagon to help me get some fresh air, but I am now strong enough to go on short jaunts under my own four-legged drive.  I’m good with other dogs, but I absolutely LOVE the cat!

I’m a very sweet guy, and like Homer, I don’t like loud noises. They startle me. I know I don’t like to be left alone, though.

I’m just a tail-waggin’ kind of guy these days and would love to meet my forever family soon!

Contact CBHR and tell them Sam sent you! Aaa-OOOO!
