About Me

Hi there, folks! Have a look at this handsome face! My name is Ryder, and I’m a 5-year-old guy who has tons of energy. My foster mom says I’m a great dog, but I need a for a forever family who understands that I’m bringing some baggage with me.

I am very happy to report that my foster mom is fantastic and has helped me work through some of my insecurities and quirks. I was timid at first when I met people, and I still bark – but then, I’m a basset hound and love the sound of my own voice, so it’s probably just my way of saying hello. But now I am happy to meet new people, because they give me pets.

When I get to meet people at my own pace, I do very well. Foster Mom is making sure I am socialized as often as possible. I really love my twice-daily long walks with her, and I have learned that I don’t need to pull on the leash, because she lets me stop and sniff all the interesting smells along the way.

I don’t have much experience around the kiddos, so if you have young children you mright want to ask CBHR how they think I would do. My ideal forever home is with active family that wants an energetic, fun-loving basset. I now love to go to new places and meet new people, and I want a family that will take time to play with me and let me flap my ears in the breeze.

One thing I’m still working on: I really like my foster mom and whine when she leaves. My anxiety sets in at that point. I’m also a work in progress when it comes my house manners. However, I do not have accidents in the house and dutifully do my business whenever she takes me outside.

She thinks I could really use some gentle obedience coaching, but mostly what I need is a whole lotta love. I adore snuggling with the humans, and I sleep either with Foster Mom or on the sofa at night. I’m really settling in!

I love other dogs, and I sometimes nap with my canine foster sibling. I wasn’t sure about car rides at first, but now I just hang out in the back and chill. Oh, and I love my toys – especially the ones that crinkle or squeak. So much fun!

With CBHR’s help, I am getting all my medical care boxes checked, and my foster mom is working to bring out the fine dude I know I can be. Sometimes it takes a village to help us shine.

CBHR has taken houndies with all sorts of behavior and anxiety issues and has helped them become the perfect forever friends. And I’m a fine example of what patience and love will do. One thing they do is carefully identify the right family for every dog.

So you see, I just am a handsome hound who needs love and reassurance to reach my full potential yet. Keep up with my progress right here, and once I’m ready to find my forever family, you’ll know. Remember, ask for me, Ryder!
