About Me
Hi there, folks! Aren’t I handsome? My name is Ryder, and I’m a 5-year-old guy who has tons of energy. My foster mom says I’m a great dog, but I also need a for a forever family who understands that I’m bringing some baggage with me.
I’m very timid when I first meet people and will back up and bark at them. I may have suffered abuse in the past. I like to meet people on my own terms and get to know them gradually. Women are easier for me to get to know, but eventually I can get used to men as well. I don’t have much experience around the kiddos, but judging from my wariness, I might be better off in a home without young children.
I really like my foster mom and whine when she leaves. My anxiety sets in at that point. I’m also a work in progress when it comes to housetraining and learning to obey commands, including not to counter cruise. I would benefit from patience and consistency.
Foster mom thinks I was mostly an outdoor dog, so I am confused when they put that thing they call a leash on me. I also have growled and bared my teeth at her when she has tried to grab me by my collar. I’m real sensitive about that. Some gentle obedience coaching would go a long way in helping me with good manners.
Oh, and I’m allergic to chicken and corn, so I’ll need the right food to keep me healthy – I could stand to put on a few pounds, incidentally.
But here’s the thing: With CBHR’s help, I will get a full checkup and any medical care I might need, as well as patient fosters who work to bring out the fine dude I know I can be. Sometimes it takes a village to help us shine. Call me a diamond in the rough.
CBHR has taken houndies with all sorts of behavior and anxiety issues and has helped them become the perfect forever friends. One thing they do is carefully identify the right family for every dog. They also make sure adopters have all the information they need to make an educated decision, and they offer support if families have questions or concerns after adoption.
So you see, I just am a handsome hound who just hasn’t reached my full potential yet. Keep up with my progress right here, and once I’m ready to find my forever family, you’ll know. Remember, ask for me, Ryder!
