I am Rider! I recently returned to CBHR, but hopefully, not for long! As you can see, my new adoption is pending.
My foster people have said I am the most easygoing, loving basset anyone could want.
I am such a good boy that I know obedience commands. I am super friendly with people, kids, dogs, and cats. I don’t mind grooming, including having my nails trimmed. I am very attached to being around people. I walk up to greet new people and welcome people I know with a howl and a bark. I do not require a crate and am content to sleep and spend idle time in my dog bed. When I need to go outside to potty, I will let you know, and I can even ring a bell to let you know when I’m all done.
I am low maintenance, but I can get a little bit grumpy – I am a bit stubborn and I “purr” to express my displeasure. I will get scared and cower if touched around the neck when attaching my leash, but we can work on this. I move at my own pace which can be pretty slow. I do need to lose a little weight to help with my early diagnosis of hip dysplasia.
My ideal furever home includes: 1) a home with moderate stimulation and ongoing socialization, 2) no small children, 3) other dogs to play with, and 4) the ability to spend some time outside.
Medical Issues: Early signs of degenerative hip problems that don’t seem to cause serious problems at the moment.
