About Me

*Penny has been adopted!*

Surprise!  I’m Penny Lane and I may not look like a basset, but my sweet tiny legs and low-rider stature was enough for a kind soul to reach out to CBHR after I was found wandering in the middle of South Carolina.

It’s not been easy, as I was pregnant when I was rescued and my puppy didn’t make it, but now I’m focused on the wonderful life of being a loved family member.  I’m pretty much in awe of everyone I meet; if I could just gaze at people all day, I’d be happy, especially my foster mama. When I look at her there is so much love and I just love that feeling.

I pretty much love my life now. I sleep on a cozy dog bed next to my foster fur siblings.  When I wake up, I do my best to get down two flights of stairs to go pee outside so my foster mama can say “Good Girl, Penny” a million times, which makes my tail wag. Then I have a BIG breakfast with all kinds of yummy food.

I love my baths and drying out in the warm sun to soothe my itchy skin. I don’t love the stuff that’s used to clean my ears, but I do want the yucky stuff in my ears to go away so I don’t have to shake them so much! I really love riding in the car.  All the fur siblings stay in the back, silly dogs. I just scoot through the little area between the back and the front because everyone needs a co-pilot.

I’m very quiet.  I like to observe, and no one is sure if I even know how to bark. I’m not sure myself. Maybe once my ears get all cleaned up for good and I have a forever home, we’ll find out.  But I don’t really have anything to bark at – everyone else is taking care of all that.

I’m just an old soul who is so grateful for my tiny legs that were my ticket to CBHR, which saved my life! Thank you, CBHR!
