About Me
*** Mr. Summerfield crossed the bridge on August 6, 2022. After being picked up by someone who saw another person throw him out of a truck, he lived out his life with love as a Forever Foster, thanks to the generosity of CBHR donors. Your generous gifts enabled our organization to provide his medical care. Run free across that Rainbow Bridge, Mr. Summerfield! ***
I’m a dignified 13-year-old hound by the name of Mr. Summerfield. I was found as a stray, but CBHR made sure I found my way to a great foster home, where I’m living the good life! I am one resilient basset hound.
I came to CBHR after a kindly passerby saw a man throw this sweet guy out of a truck. Can you believe that? I was overweight and had dental disease, and I changed foster homes several times because I had a little problem with incontinence. Eventually, I found a great foster mom with the love and patience to find out what was wrong. The vet diagnosed me with Cushing’s disease, which is being controlled with medications that I will be on forever.
I also have arthritis and developed a cyst on my tail which, sadly, had to be amputated. I also have Addison’s disease, which is manageable with medication.
My wonderful foster family is determined to keep me safe, loved, and help me get the best out my life. They love me as one of their own. I will live out the rest of my days with them as a CBHR Forever Foster.
I love riding in cars – so much so, that I may occasionally try to get up in your lap and show off my own driving skills! I walk well on a leash, and just plain like people – men or women, as long as they have a hand to pet me, it’s all good! I’m also great with other dogs and can navigate stairs just fine.
Despite all of my troubles, I remain a sweet old hound who clings to my foster mom like Velcro. CBHR won’t give up on me, and I am having the time of my life!
