About Me
*Merritt has been adopted!*
Hi there! My name is Merritt, and there’s nothing I like better than snuggling up really close to my people. I’m a 3-year-old boy who is still working on becoming my best basset self, but I am making great progress!
I’m fully crate trained and housetrained, am an expert at using the doggie door, and I have not shown any food aggression. I do get snappy sometimes with the other male dog and I have growled and I tend to grab hold sometimes. But don’t you worry! CBHR has me working with a trainer to find out why I do that, and to help me redirect that behavior. My fosters say that most of the time, though, I’m an easy guy to have around. I love to follow them around to make sure I don’t lose sight of them.
I’m not a fan of the leash – I pull – but I’m very smart and am learning all sorts of new tricks, so I’m sure I’ll get the hang of walking politely. I do love meeting other dogs when I am out on walks, so I want to make sure I get to go on lots of them.
I quickly picked up “sit” and I am learning “lie down.” I’m good with adults but haven’t been observed around kids. I enjoy meeting other people, and I’m right at home in crowds. I’m a good car passenger, too! I also love romping with other dogs and playing with my squeaky toys. I recently got neutered, too, so you won’t need to worry about that. CBHR makes sure we get the care we need.
I’ve been very busy these past few months working on my house manners and getting settled into my foster home, but now I am ready to meet my forever family!
As long as I get lots of love and have people who are patient and consistent, I should do well. I have lots of cuddles to give! And great news! I may have found my forever family! Stay tuned.
I’m Merritt, and I’m off to play!
