Lunch Box

Lunch Box

About Me

My “name” is Lunch Box, and I am a classic basset – long body, short legs, big feet and cascading long ears.

For those of you who may not follow CBHR’s facebook page, let me summarize my story for you. I had a lot of changes in my life very quickly after my owner passed away, and I was feeling very scared and overwhelmed – when I got to my foster home in Raleigh, I panicked, jumped over new foster mom’s shoulder, and ran away. Foster mom says I must be very smart, because during the 6 weeks I was on the run, I managed to avoid being hit by cars, found shelter, and evaded 2 different types of traps before I was finally caught! Now that I’m settled at my foster home,  I have become a big smushy lovebug. I don’t know why I ran away – it’s great here!

As you can see from my pics, I have cushy dog beds and a sofa that I like to lounge on, and a nice big fenced back yard to hang out in. The food is great here too – I get extra food since I got a bit thin while I was on the run. Now that I am comfortable here, my personality is shining through, and my tail is wagging a lot. Instead of running FROM my foster family, I run TO them – I get very excited to see them when they’ve been out. Sometimes they don’t pet me soon enough, so I bump my head under their arm to remind them I’m waiting. Belly rubs and ear scratches are required when they come in the door. I’ve learned how to use the doggy door, but before that I would wait to be taken out. I get along with other dogs as well.

I’ve had all my shots now, and am getting my teeth cleaned at end of April after I gain some weight. The vet says I have a low thyroid level, so they started me on some medication for that, and will check my levels again when I get my teeth cleaned.

While it’s  nice here, I would love to find my new forever home soon. You’ll need to give me some time to get to know you, but once I do, I will love you with all my heart.
