About Me

Hello there! My name is Luna and I am eagerly searching for my forever family. I’m a sweet Velcro hound who adores being in your lap and watching TV or just sitting with you while you read. I’m generally calm, but never boring. I’m about 5 years old and a little thin for a basset – about 37 pounds, but I’m working to put on just a few more pounds.

Call me a work in progress, but one worth all the patience and training it will take to become the very best version of me. I’m still trying to figure out this housetraining thing, and although my foster mom thinks I have learned commands in the past (because I wait patiently for her to give me the OK to leave my crate and I know “sit”), I am a bit rusty in some areas.

However, what I lack in polish, I make up for in sheer love and affection. My foster mom lives in an area with not a lot of other people around, so I haven’t really been in crowds or met men or children. But I don’t react badly to loud noises, so I might be OK with children. I am a good girl, or at least I try to be, and my foster would like to introduce me to some other people so I can socialize more and get used to meeting new people.

At first, I was a little skeptical of the other dogs in the house, but I have started to initiate playtime with them. I just needed a little time to adapt. Foster Mom has been told I don’t do well with cats but hasn’t observed my apparently less-than-polite behavior firsthand.

I sleep very soundly in my crate at night with no issues, but I do whine and howl when FM leaves me during the day. I’m not destructive, though, and I eventually settle into my crate and chill.

When mealtime comes, I’m there. Foster Mom feeds me in my crate because I happily scarf down my food quickly, and she wants to prevent me from trying to sneak a few more bites from my canine foster siblings. She has not seen any sign of food aggression, but I confess to being an expert counter-surfer. I’m trying to be good – honest!

As I noted, I’m pretty calm, but I do love some good zoomies every once in a while. I don’t bark much except when I have to go in my crate during the day.

CBHR saw a lot of potential in me, and I hope the right family will see that, too. Our fosters work to help us hounds learn good house manners so we can find our forever homes. If you think I might be a good fit for you, contact CBHR and said you saw Luna and would like to know more!
