Kokomo

I am Koko – short for Kokomo! I am a great dog and overall a sweetheart, but I have some medical issues and need a home where the people can make sure I stay on my meds and my special diet to keep me healthy.

I am very sweet, love people and get along well with other dogs. I am fantastic with my potty manners and let my foster parents know when I have to go. I have really good house manners – I don’t counter surf or jump on people, and I even sleep in!  I never really learned to play with toys, but I do like to play chase and tug of war. I love to go on walks and even run! I am very social. I love to be petted and brushed.

I’ve had some health problems, including inoperable kidney stones, allergies and previous gastric bloat surgery, but with special food, carefully rationed water (my limit is three bowls a day) and medication, my health conditions are under control. I will need a loving family who can make sure I stick to my routine, but I would really love to have a forever family.

I have  shown a little bit of separation anxiety when my fosters leave, but I calm down after a few minutes. I like car rides, but not to the groomer – I hate having my nails trimmed. Instead of brushing my teeth, I prefer a weekly bully stick. I have a tendency to be possessive of things that I have found in a household hunt – mainly food or toys, but if you work with me I might be able to share.
