About Me
Hello, CBHR! I’m Joe, but my foster mom calls me Winston. I was adopted as a puppy by another family in 2021 from Carolina Basset Hound Rescue but recently was returned because of changes in my former owner’s situation.
I’m still a young guy – just 4 years old – and I’m still settling into my foster home, but I’m really enjoying all the love and attention I’m getting. My foster mom says I’m a sweet, sweet boy, and I can’t disagree with that! I do my best to please my humans.
I got a fun surprise in January when some fluffy white stuff covered the ground. Foster Mom called it snow, and boy, was it fun! I watched it as it was falling and then I got to go outside and lick that stuff up. Ooh, very cold!
There are some things I haven’t mastered, like walking politely on a leash and learning not to have accidents on FM’s oriental rug. Oops! Housetraining is still a work in progress, but I am getting better and am eager to please my very patient foster mom. I do let her know when I have to go out most of the time, and I will learn the system.
I’m still learning to walk on the leash and need some gentle guidance to teach me good house manners, but I’m such a people pleaser that if you are patient with me, I’m sure I will catch on. I really like my crate and like to be fed in there because I have a little food aggression. This keeps me from reacting poorly when another dog or human is around me.
There is a lot more I could say, but most important, I am being adopted soon! But keep checking this website – we get new hounds in often, and one of them, or one of the ones here on this page may be just the basset buddy you’re looking for!
This is Joe – er, Winston – signing off.
