About Me

My name is Jesse, and I’m sad to tell you that I am one scared boy, but my foster mom can tell I also want nothing more than to be loved. You see, I came to CBHR as one of 12 backyard dogs whose owner had to give us up because he couldn’t take care of us anymore. As you can imagine, it’s stressful trying to adjust to the strange indoor life, but my foster family is working to help me trust them.

Right now, my favorite spot is the sofa, and I rarely leave it – at first, I even have to be carried outside, but I now go outside on my own. I am very new to the rescue and slowly making some progress, but it might take some time before I will be ready for adoption. I will need a patient, gentle family who can work with me and help me out of my shell.

Good news, though! I haven’t had any accidents in the house, and I sleep contently all night in my crate, so I have good potential. I am good with women and will need a home that is female-only because I am afraid of men. I have no experience around children, but my anxiety might make me a better fit for a family with no children.

I get along great with the other dog in the house and do fine with the cat.

I still have to get neutered and have some more time with my foster before I am ready for my forever home. Keep checking back for updates, and if you think you might be someone who has the time and patience to help me bring out my basset best, contact CBHR and get your name on the adoption list.
