About Me
Hi! My name is Jed, and I’m a 3-year-old basset looking for my forever family. I am a sweet dog, and Foster Mom says I would be best for a house that has another canine pal for me to play with. I’m a real snugglebuddy who loves to be near people. And boy, do I miss them when they are gone – they call it “separation anxiety.”
Foster Mom caught me whining and pacing after she left, via one of those high-tech security cameras, but she talked to me (from out there!) and I calmed down a little. I’m not destructive, though – I just get lonesome without the people around.
I love to play with my little squeaky toys and will play fetch. I also like to place them around the house for a good game of Hide and Seek. I’m a typical basset, which means I find a nap on a comfy sofa irresistible, but if you move me, I won’t mind. I walk pretty well on the leash, but I get excited to follow my nose and will pull a little. With training, I should break that habit. I understand the idea of heading outside to do my business, but I still have some accidents. My foster mom is working with me on that also, don’t you worry.
I’m not a big eater, but as long as food is offered to me, I will eat it eventually. (A garnish of tasty treats helps whet my appetite.) I’m playful and active, so I’m getting enough to eat. I am not a fan of the crate (I whine because I’m lonely).
My nose is very sensitive, and when I am on a scent, I have what the trainers call “selective hearing,” so you might have to repeat yourself or get my attention. I’m also a bit of an escape artist if the front door is open, so you’ll need to watch for that. Training can also help me there, with time and patience.
I get along well with all kinds of people, although I’ve only been exposed to children while on my walks. And while I get along great with the other doggies in the house, I can be a little possessive of items I take a liking to. Overall, I am a good boy and would make a great pet! Ask for me, Jed!
