About Me
Hello basset hound lovers! My name is Howie, and I’m a young guy just about 2 years old. I’m an energetic boy and just love to play. But I’m also a lover. I will cuddle with you any time of day or night, and I like to stick right by your side.
Now, as a youngster, I am still trying to learn all the rules of being a polite hound. I could use some obedience training, but I will return your patience with so many cuddles and loves that you’ll never run out.
Being a basset, I do love the sound of my own voice, and I bark excitedly when I have something important or interesting to tell you – like “the trees in the yard were shaking today,” or “I’m so happy to see you!” With time, I will learn when to speak and when to show you what I mean.
I am reliably housetrained and haven’t shown any aggression since arriving in my foster home. I love long walks and walk well on a leash. I also love to ride in the car with the windows down so I can take in all the smells and breezes along the way. I get so excited that I bark!
My fosters love that I am the class clown. Although I enjoy playing with other dogs, if they’re too tired, I’m happy to entertain myself by throwing my toys up in the air and chasing after them. My favorites are special dog toy and a dinosaur toy into my foster home, but I love all toys – including the ones that squeak. And, of course, what’s a day without getting in a few good zoomies?
My ideal family would be active, since I have lots of pep in my step. I get along with kiddos but haven’t been observed round the tiniest humans. A nice backyard where I can keep an eye on the squirrels and sniff the perimeter would be a plus. I enjoy being outside where I can take in all the smells.
I can be a bit of an escape artist, and I’m not a fan of my crate – I bark a lot after I go in grudgingly. A good trainer can help me learn how to be a part of the household and to settle on command
Now, when it comes to bedtime, you don’t have to worry. I like to turn in promptly at 9 p.m., like clockwork. My preferred crash spot is the couch – dog beds are OK, but the sofa is soooocomfy.
I’m still on hold while I get my medical needs taken care of, but if you think I might be the boy for you, just contact CBHR and tell them you think Howie might be a great addition to your household. I will be waiting with tail wagging! Howie out!
