About Me

*Gomer is now a Forever Foster. He will live out the rest of his days in the care and love of his foster family.*

Howdy, all! My name’s Gomer, and I am one sweet little old man. I’m 16 – my owner had to give me up, and the nice folks at CBHR took me in. I’m getting along pretty good, for an old guy. I came with heartworms, so they are working on getting rid of those things, but otherwise I am just humming along.

Don’t let my age deter you – I still have a lot of life and love left. My foster mom thinks I’m charming, and I follow her around wherever she goes. I’ve learned to use the doggie door, although I still insist that my foster people go outside with me. I do come back in when I’m done sunning in the yard, though.

I get along well with my foster dog siblings, and while I’m not eager to play, I like being part of a pack. I’m very food motivated and a little greedy about food, so Foster Mom is careful to feed me separately from the other dogs and to give me treats flat-handed or on the floor so I don’t accidentally nip.

I love sleeping in my bed, and when my belly gets too warm, I just roll over on my back to cool off. Sometimes I even dream about chasing rabbits while sleeping on my back with all fours face up. I stay in my crate when the people leave the house but am OK to sleep on my bed all night without any accidents or mischief.

One of my favorite things is being petted and scratched. I’ll stand next to Foster Mom and insist that she keep loving on me till I get my fill of human attention.

Because of my heartworms, I have a little time yet before I will be ready to meet my forever family, but keep checking back for updates. I may be a senior dog, but I have a lifetime of love to give the right family. Just contact CBHR and ask for me, Gomer!
