About Me

*Frank went to the Bridge on Sept. 10, 2022. Run free, sweet Frank! Frank was one of CBHR’s Forever Fosters, a group of senior hounds who live out their years with their loving foster families. Their medical care is covered thanks to generous contributions from our amazing donors.*
Hello my name is Fabulous Frank. Let’s jump right in to the 3 things I REALLY like. Those 3 things are My Person, Food, and Rides. I will follow my person everywhere and I get sad if i can’t be with him or her. I sometimes bring out my Frank Sinatra voice if I can’t find my person. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE riding in the car. I just sit by the window and look out while enjoying the view. I like taking walks too, but I don’t go far. I have arthritis so I just sniff around a little bit and go at a slow pace for a block or less.

And now let’s talk about FOOD!  I love pretty much all food. I know where the kitchen is and what goes on there. I will sit in the kitchen and patiently wait for something yummy to come my way. I’m a skinny fella, so I say it’s ok to fill my belly with plenty of food and treats! After my belly is full, I’ll happily take tons of ear and neck rubs and snuggle up with my person.

But there are 2 things that I really don’t like: steps, and being alone. I do great going in and out of a dog door and using a dog ramp, but will hesitate if I have to go up and down steps. Going up and down steps make my old bones hurt, but I’ll do it if I have to. If I’m alone, I’m scared and sad and I’ll whine and howl.

From my energetic demeanor, you’d never know that I am a very sick senior hound. Mt story begins in Marlboro County, SC., in 2021, where I spent five days on the run before the animal control folks were able to catch me and take me to a local shelter.

I came to CBHR in August 2021 with numerous medical problems, including testicular cancer. The mass was removed, but my cancer metastasized to other parts of my body. The oncologist recommended against aggressive treatment  because there was no guarantee of success or how it would affect my quality of life.

At about 9 ½ years old, I am  one of CBHR’s “Forever Fosters” and will remain in CBHR’s care as long as I live. My rear legs are weak and wobbly, but that doesn’t slow me down. I am one wide-open basset hound, determined to live out my final days on my own terms.
