About Me
Hi, y’all! I’m Ellie Mae, and if I look familiar, it’s because I am a veteran CBHR hound. I was adopted several years ago, but my family had to relocate to care for an ill relative, and I couldn’tgo with them. I’m a blind girl, nearly 11 years old, but I still have a lot of life left in me.
Well, howdy, folks! I’m Ellie Mae, and don’t let my squinting fool you – I am one sweet girl. Although I’m blind and had to have my eyes removed, I haven’t let that get in the way of showing affection and interacting with my foster humans and other dogs.
If I look familiar, it’s because I am a CBHR rerun, having been adopted in 2022. Sadly, my people had a change in their situation and needed to care for a sick relative. That would take most of their time and attention, so here I am, back with CBHR.
Despite my eyesight deficit, I navigate pretty well around the house and yard, and I really love being outside in the sun. I also just adore riding in the car and going for walks – I told you I’m not letting being blind stop me from doing the things I love.
I’m nearly 11 years old, and I am happy as part of my pack. I’m playful and love my toys, but I’m also independent, social and very smart. And I am housebroken. Sometimes I’m a little shy when meeting new people, but I warm up quickly with some patience and lovies.
I love car rides and being outside where the sun can shine on me. I also love walks – my lack of sight doesn’t keep me from living my best life. I am good at finding my way around the house, but I get testy if another dog bumps into me or tries to eat my food. But generally, I get along very well with other dogs and I often initiate playtime.
I may be a senior girl, but I still love my toys. I also am a sweet and affectionate hound who loves rubs and pets. I may be a little shy at first around new people, but once I have a chance to get to know them, I’m more comfortable. I am very smart and have good house manners.
Pssst, I’ll tell you a secret: I’m a little spoiled. I like to sleep in the living room with the TV on for company, and I do not need to be crated because I’m a good girl. I am housetrained and might even be able to use a doggie door. I did very well on the ramp in my former fosters’ backyard.
Car rides are my favorite, as I mentioned earlier. I just know something fun is going to happen when I get into my passenger seat.
I’m on hold right now while I take care of some medical needs, but If you would like a calm, compliant senior girl to keep you and your family company, won’t you contact CBHR and ask about Ellie Mae? They will give you all the information you need to see if we might be able to match!
I’ll be waiting!
