About Me

Hi there. Just look into these sad eyes. My name is Date, and I’m a sweet but fearful basset boy, about 3 years old. I don’t think I was always this way, but before I came to CBHR, I witnessed my best buddy being attacked by a big dog.

When I arrived in the loving care of CBHR, I was terrified of people. I am still very anxious around new people, but my foster family has worked hard to make me feel at home, and I trust them. I’mstarting to play, and I am no longer afraid to go out in the backyard.

I need a forever family who show me patience, love and who can help me with my socialization skills. I’m a very good boy – I don’t sleep in a crate, but I don’t get into mischief when the humans are asleep or leave the house. I don’t really bark much, and I am working on that thing called housetraining.

I really love sleeping on my dog bed! I am also learning to sit when offered a treat.

I would do best in a home with no children – they terrify me, especially the ones who run and make sudden moves – and I probably shouldn’t be in a home with a large dog, although I do well around the small dog in my foster home. I prefer my peace and quiet as opposed to a bustling house with lots of people coming and going.

You may say I’m not perfect, but I am teachable and I really enjoy the company of people I trust. It takes time, though. If you are patient, calm people who are willing to work with me to alleviate my fears, I would like to meet you. CBHR thinks I could benefit from obedience training and a lot of practice being socialized.

I’ve overcome some of my fears – I used to be afraid to go up and down the stairs, but now I realize they are the best way to get where I’m going. And I am sure that with a lot of love and support, I will evolve into the perfect companion. CBHR has faith in me.

Won’t you give me a chance? Contact CBHR and tell them you want to know more about me, Date.
