About Me

*Daisy Mae and Elvis have been adopted!*

Greetings, y’all! My name is Daisy Mae, and I am bonded with my best bud Elvis. I have a pupdate to share with you. We are available for adoption and have made good progress since we first came to CBHR. We weren’t well socialized, but our fosters have been  working on that!

Although we are sweet as we can be, we are a little wary when meeting new people. Elvis in particular had some nervousness and separation anxiety, and tended to bark a lot. But the vet prescribed some calming meds, and he is feeling so much more relaxed.

Once we get comfortable with someone, we really warm up to them. We just love to cuddle and are extremely lovable.

More good news! We are reliably housetrained and just love to ride in the car! As you might imagine, we are uncomfortable around crowds. We also have been on our leash manners because weren’t used to walking on a leash. Plus we get so excited to go on walks that we pull a little because we just can’t wait to take in all the sights and smells.

As younger dogs – I am 4 ½ years old and Elvis is 5 – we have a lot of energy. Once we get comfortable with an adult human, we are loveable, but don’t have much experience with children. Given that we have had some anxiety, we probably would be best in a house with no children or with older children who understand that we need a calmer atmopshere, as well as a lot of love.

I get along OK with the other dog in the house, but Elvis tends to get stressed out around other dogs. (I think he gets jealous of the attention I give to other dogs). We probably would be best as the only houndies in the house. We do bark at the neighbor’s cat.

We were on hold for a while to help us get better socialized, but we are now available for adoption and are eager to meet our forever family. I promise we are worth a little extra patience on your part. If you think you;d like a pair of beautiful, high-energy bassets, contact CBHR and say you’d like to know more about Daisy Mae and Elvis!
