*Copper boy has been adopted!*
Hello, there! They call me Copper Boy, and I am looking for a forever family to love. I’m a bit of a Velcro dog – I follow my foster people around because I don’t like being left alone. My foster family is working with me to reduce my separation anxiety, but they say I’m just the sweetest boy.
I really love my fenced yard, and I am now reliably housetrained. Napping is one of my favorite pastimes (whose isn’t?), and I adore the people.
I get along well with my fellow foster dogs, and mostly ignore cats. But people – ohh, do I love people of all ages, the big and the small!
I have some mobility issues and prefer short walks to long walks – and stairs are really tough for me. My ideal home would probably have few stairs. I’m 7 years old and didn’t get much exercise before coming to CBHR. I also was a little undernourished. I’m getting great, healthy food now, though, and I’m getting a little spring back in my step.
I really don’t like being crated because of my separation anxiety, but my new fosters are helping me learn that I won’t be in there for long periods of time. I reluctantly go in when they need me to, but they let me sleep outside of the crate at night and I am a very good houseguest.
They are helping me reduce my separation anxiety. It’s amazing what a loving home and a little patience can accomplish. As I settle in, I become more comfortable and more secure that these people really care about me and want me to be fully ready when I meet my forever family.
Because I was a hungry boy when I arrived, I am very food motivated and have had to work on the habit of trying to scarf any food I encounter. I am learning to take food from the people’s hands when offered, and only then.
I play with most of the other dogs in the house, although I avoid the alpha dog. My favorite playmate is the other basset in the house. We love to romp!
