About Me
Howdy hey, everyone! They call me Copper, and my best friend Taffy and I came to CBHR together. We are a pair of almost 8-year-old hounds. In keeping with our basset heritage, we are super friendly and love attention from the humans. We came to CBHR because our former owners could no longer give us the care we needed, so they entrusted CBHR to find us a new forever home.
We are still learning our house manners, including how to let the people know when we need to go outside for some private time. Our fosters say we are learning fast, too! We are also attending to some medical needs so we are healthy as well as happy when we meet our forever family.
I am a sweet boy and am working hard to learn my house manners and indoor skills. Unlike Taffy, who is not the least bit afraid of people, I have a lot more anxiety when I’m being corrected. My fosters think I must have been yelled at sometime during my life, and they are proceeding gently and with love.
Speaking of love, we really like our crate and never complain about going in there. We are still trying to learn how to walk on a leash – like all bassets, we are guided by our nose and want to get to the next interesting smell along our path. We are having fun meeting all the neighbors, get along great with other dogs and even get along with the cat and the chickens.
So you see, we are coming into our own and hope to be ready to meet our forever family soon. Carolina Basset Hound Rescue volunteers work tirelessly to make sure we are ready when we meet our forever families. We are making good progress.
