*Charlie Brown has been adopted!*
My name is Charlie Brown, and my tale is one of the Charlie Brown-iest you’ve ever heard. Four years ago, my Carolina Basset Hound Rescue foster mom fell head over heels in love with me and decided to adopt me. We were so happy, even though I suffered from some skin allergies that I had to take medication for.
Fast-forward four years, and my story has taken a sad detour: My adoptive mom was diagnosed with a serious illness and had to have surgery. Because of the surgery and extended recovery time, she made the difficult decision to ask CBHR to take me back. (And you thought it was rough when that cartoon kid got the football pulled out from under him.) She misses me but knows this is what’s best for both of us.
My mom loved me to the moon and back, but I returned to CBHR needing my vaccinations, medication and an eye exam. Alas, at just 7 years old, I am now almost blind with bad cataracts. I can only see shadows. (Fortunately, we basset hounds have some of the best sniffers in the canine world!)
I am one of the sweetest guys you’d ever want to meet, and the amazing volunteers with CBHR are making sure I get all the medical treatment I need, including some much-needed dental attention. I am with my new foster mom and getting settled in, but everyone who has met me over the past few weeks can’t help but fall in love with me.
Carolina Basset Hound Rescue has helped so many dogs like me get the veterinary care they need and has helped find us our forever homes. As you can see from my story, though, sometimes happily ever after takes a cruel turn.
Generous contributions from kind-hearted people make it possible for CBHR to continue its mission to help bassets all over the Carolinas find loving homes. We especially need “angels” who will make donations so our all-volunteer organization can make sure my fellow bassets and I get the medical care we need.
I will soon be available for adoption! I found my forever home once. With CBHR’s help – and yours – I am certain I will find my Happily Ever After 2.0!
