About Me
*Cash crossed the Bridge on December 27, 2022. Our oldest Forever Foster, Cash was able to live out his final years among people who provided him oodles of love and much-needed medical care. Our thanks to all the generous donors who made his ongoing care possible. Run free, Cash!*
If you have been watching the CBHR website you have seen my name for a while. I’m Cash, and at almost 19 years of age, I am CBHR’s oldest basset and one of the organization’s Forever Fosters.
As they say, “I am in good shape for the shape I’m in.” Realistically, my health is slowly declining…my joints ache, my hearing is getting worse, and I have a bit of forgetfulness.
My foster calls me a “resilient little bugger.”
I came to CBHR at 15 because my owner died and I was being evicted. But my story has a happy ending. I had a lot of problems in addition to typical age-related issues including stiff joints and arthritis. I was not neutered, had intestinal worms, an enlarged prostate, infected eyes and ears and bad teeth. With lots of love and medical care, I am now in relatively good health, even if I move a little slowly because of my arthritis. As a senior dog, I also can be a bit forgetful at times.
Despite the challenges I have overcome, my only medication is for my arthritis, and my other systems are normal.
Today, I am happy and comfortable in my foster home, where I will live out my remaining days..
