About Me

Hello, basset fans! My name is Butch, and I came to CBHR with Sundance. We are lucky 2-year-old hounds with a sad story to tell. You see, our owner died in a house fire, and although we survived, we both had smoke inhalation and developed pneumonia. Thank goodness for the folks at the animal shelter and for CBHR, which took us in and made sure we got the medical care we needed.

Sundance got annoyed with me, so they separated us and determined that we are not bonded, which is good news if you are looking only for one houndie!

We are still recovering but doing much better, and now that we are on the mend we are working with our foster families to get ready for our new forever homes. Let me tell you a little about me.

I am a lemon-and-white basset, and I still need to be neutered before I am ready to be a forever pal. We lived outdoors, so I’m also trying to get used to the indoor life. It is a big transition, but I’m young enough to learn the ropes.

Foster Mom says I am one big lover boy! I love to follow her all over the house and yard – I want to make sure she’s not out of my sight! I like adults and kiddos – I really enjoy Foster Mom’s grandchildren – and I get along with the cats as well as the other dogs in the house. I am doing very well with my housebreaking, and I’m pretty good walking on a leash. I don’t mind car rides, either.

Because of the trauma I went through and pneumonia, I was kind of nervous around new people and situations, but my foster is working on that with me. Now I just want to be around the people! I don’t like being in the crate for a long time, but I do get in there without complaining when offered treats.

I’m just settling in after my sad experience, but keep checking back on me. CBHR is dedicated to helping hounds like me find the perfect new forever family! I’m Butch, so ask for me!
