About Me
They call me Bubba George, but you can call me adorable. I’m a senior Southern gentleman, about 7 ½ years old, with an unlimited supply of charm. I am polite and wait to be invited on the peoplefurniture, and I know basic commands.
One thing I don’t like is being startled – I get growly or bear my teeth. I can be quite grouchy if you wake me up from my naps, so please keep that in mind. I’m used to being an only dog, but I’vebeen friendly with neighborhood dogs – I do like to bark at them, but I’m not aggressive.
I enjoy a nice hunk of cheddar cheese or other treats with my kibble, but my fosters are trying to help me lose a few pounds and to learn not to expect unlimited treats because I’ve had some tummy troubles. I still get the occasional human food, just not in large quantities.
I may have been traumatized at some point in my life, which could explain my reaction to being startled. I get nervous and growly if you lean down to pet me. My preference is to have you meet me on my level with gentle pets and no sudden moves.
I probably would not do well in a home with children for that reason. I’ve had some redness under my armpits, and my fosters are helping keep me clean and getting the necessary medication to prevent irritation.
I do love a good walk, especially the kind where I can stop and sniff the flowers – or anything else that piques my interest. And I love gentle words and positive reinforcement.
A number of people have expressed interest in me, but keep checking back to see if I soon find my happily ever after.
And visit the CBHR website every now and then – we have been getting a lot of new dogs, and some are getting close to being ready to meet their forever families. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must get back to supervising the household.
