About Me

Hi there, basset fans! My name is Frankie, and I’m so happy to be a CBHR hound! I’ve found a foster dad who really is committed to helping me become the best version of my basset self.

I’m about 5 years old, and they like to call me a “Velcro” dog, because I want to be with my person constantly. My foster dad recognizes that I need some socialization skills, and he is doing a great job working with me on my manners – a Southern lady is always working to better herself, after all.

When I arrived here, I was sooo excited to meet my canine foster sister Sophia. We love to play and hang out together. I tell you, we’re double trouble! Now let me tell you more about me:

I am one smart girl, and I’m learning all sorts of commands. Foster Dad is teaching me how to be more polite when I want something, and I’m enjoying the challenge. I’ve learned how to take a treat politely from him, and I let him know when I need to go outside for a little private time. When I’m finished, FD says, “Let’s go home,” and I show him the way. (Humans sometimes need us four-legged compasses to lead the way.)

Car rides are the best! I jump in the car and enjoy the passing scenery while we are going. Not a big fan of the vet, but Foster Dad and our vet are helping me become more comfortable – I am especially leery of those nail trims.

Now, sometimes I growl and the neighbors. I don’t really mean anything negative, but I’m a watchdog and when I get suspicious, I let someone know. My foster is teaching me different ways to express myself so I don’t inadvertently scare anyone. I do love the sound of my own voice, though, and I enjoy barking at the door when people wander by.

Speaking of my watchful nature, when I hear the alarm clock go off, I put my paws up on the bed to make sure my foster gets up. Breakfast must be served!

Foster Dad thinks I would benefit from some obedience training to reduce anxiety and help me be more comfortable around new people and in crowds. But I get along with most people, and I’m becoming more acclimated to my new surroundings every day.

If you’d like to learn more about me, please reach out to CBHR and tell them Frankie sent you!
