Ernie here. I’m a retired hunting hound looking for love and my forever home. My CBHR foster mom says I’m one sweet guy! I’m 8 years old but I act much younger.
I would love an active family because I am used to getting a lot of exercise. I haven’t had much experience walking on a leash, so that is a work in progress, but I enjoy the great outdoors. I’m also working to learn and obey commands. But I am reliably housetrained and haven’t had any accidents in my foster home. I also need a fenced yard.
My foster dad says I will need a family who is committed to follow through with my training so I can be my best basset self. My favorite sleeping spot is the bed in the guest bedroom, and I am not crated but haven’t misbehaved.
It would be great if I could find a family that has someone home most of the time. I like the company! I also get along great with my fellow foster dogs, but I haven’t had much experience around cats.
I am good with adults but haven’t really had a chance to meet any of the smaller humans. Again, keeping up with my training will help me have good manners around whoever I meet.
The vet says I have a heart murmur but it apparently isn’t a problem for me right now, so I hope to be ready to meet my forever family soon. If you are interested in a hound dog like me, contact CBHR and tell them you want to know more about ol’ Ernie. I’ll be waiting!
