About Me
Hello! I’m Winston, and I’m a 3-year-old guy in search of my forever family. My ideal match would be an active family with no young children and no other dogs (I don’t like to share the attention, and I don’t like to be chased).
I am an energetic basset who loves long walks and smelling the roses – and anything else I catch a scent of. My fosters take me on walks of 2-3 miles along the greenway every day, so I get lots of exercise and can keep up.
And boy, do I love my squeaky toys, especially squeaky tennis balls I can chase. I much prefer them to then non-squeak variety.
I was good at my vet visit, although my fosters hadn’t tried trimming my nails yet. I didn’t even flinch when they poked and prodded me. I am not crated but my fosters don’t report any destructive behaviors.
Now, I gotta tell ya: I much prefer sleeping in people beds to dog beds. And the good news is, you won’t need an alarm clock because if I need to get up and go outside, you can hear the thud when I jump off the bed.
You can tell I love people by how excited I am when they return. When Foster Dad walks in the door, I am so giddy that I “Mooooo!” I don’t like it when they leave, either, but I behave politely while they are gone.
Living here in the South, I have learned to stay relatively chill when those boomy thunderstorms happen. I’m also not bothered much by fireworks – but please keep me inside or take me out on a tight leash if I have to go outside during that big display.
Anyway, I am available for adoption! CBHR can tell you more about my traits and what I need to be my best basset self. Mostly, I need a loving, patient and not-too-stressful environment. And long walks. Lots of walks.
