About Me
Hello, you beautiful people! My name’s Blue, and would you just look at this face? I can’t help it if I was born cute, and I’m also pretty darn special. I am a bassador – part basset, part lab. I’m so unique that I have one blue eye and one brown eye – they make me stand out, don’t you think?
I am still a puppy, but my fosters say I am well-mannered, and I figure things out pretty quickly. I love kids, even if I get a little too excited when I meet them. I will be a great family dog with a little gentle guidance. They say they are shocked – in a pleasant way – at how good I am for such a young girl.
Playing is my jam – I love toys, romping and exploring the backyard. I walk reasonably well on a leash, but I also like to greet other dogs and people I meet along the way. My hound nose also takes me off in different directions, so no scrolling on your phone while you’re walking me.
My foster mom says I have an eye for gardening – that is, I have killed a few houseplants. I have some puppy habits that need to be redirected – like I love to chew my toys to bits, and I don’t think twice about eating the little pieces – but I respond well to gentle corrections. Also, a sturdy chew toy like a Kong would probably last longer than those toys with lots of fluff.
My nose can sniff out a tasty treat from a mile away, and I have become good at counter surfing, but I stop once I’m reminded that it’s not polite.
Overall, I am one sweet, fun-loving retriever hound who would thrive in an active household, especially if there are other furballs around. If you check my photo gallery (just scroll side to side), you will see that I get along great with other dogs. I have not been tested around cats, though.
I am not much of a barker, so I might be good in an apartment as long as my forever family takes me for long walks or romps at the dog park. I would also be happy with a nice, fencedbackyard where I can smell all the smells (and garden).
One thing you need to know, and I’m embarrassed to say, but I can’t help it: I am suffering from dandruff. It’s being treated but might never be resolved. Regular visits to the vet will help me keep that under control.
I’m still waiting for a few medical things to be cleared up but will soon be available for adoption. If you are looking for a young but generally well-mannered hound who will give you and yours lots of love, look no further. Tell CBHR you’d like to learn more about me, Blue!
And by the way, keep an eye out because I was one of five bassador puppies who came to CBHR!
