About Me
Hello, folks! They call me Honey B, and I’m a senior girl not quite 10 years old. I think my white hairs make me look distinguished and wise – don’t you? I’ve had a bit of trouble settling in and have been to more than one foster family while CBHR tries to find the right fit for me.
I got to fly on a plane to get to my last foster family! (See the photo in my gallery – I was a good little traveler). I can be a bit temperamental, but my current fosters think I may be just the family I need. It sometimes takes me a little while to settle in and to get used to other dogs in the house, but once I do, I really calm down.
What I really need is stability and consistency, and I hope this is my last foster family and my forever family! I’m not ready to be officially adopted yet because I am still dealing with a fewhealth issues. CBHR uses its generous donations from basset fans to help each dog get the medical care they need.
I am reliably housetrained and am good riding in the car (and on planes!). I get along with people but I do need a calmer environment and a slow introduction to other dogs. I’m not sure how I do with cats – my fosters haven’t observed me around them.
I will admit my main flaw is that I love food so much that I can be aggressive if another person or dog tries to come between me and my chow. Feeding me separately solves that problem.
Other than that, I’m not a big fan of the vet and may need to be muzzled, but over time I may realize that the vets and their staff are my friends. What I really want is a loving family who understands my rough edges and helps me smooth them out, using kindness and care.
Once I settle in, I am pretty laid back (see a picture in the gallery of me with my former temporary foster’s pack), but I do have some problems that require the consultation of a behaviorial expert. Keep checking back with me about my progress – CBHR doesn’t give up on its hounds, no matter what experiences might have influenced their development and personality.
And if you are looking for a worthy cause to support, won’t you consider donating what you can to help save more bassets? CBHR is an all-volunteer organization (no one gets paid) and depends on contributions to continue providing foster care, training and medical care for bassets.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to get settled in here and chill out. I’m Honey B, signing off!
