About Me

Why, hello there! I’m Hazel, and I’m a senior girl, about 9 years old, who loves peace and calm. I’m great with older dogs but get irritated with bouncy younger dogs who want to play. You see, I have some back issues, and they can hurt me if they try to roughhouse with me.

I adore attention and don’t like for my foster to be gone long. I am starting to settle down but I pace and cry when she leaves and get super-excited and clingy when she returns. I can’t really jump because of my back, so I wiggle and wag instead to show my delight. I nudge and rub against Foster Mom when I want to be petted – which is often! One can never have too much love.

I can’t really use the stairs, so a one-story home with no big steps would be best for me. When I am out on walks, I bark and wag when I see other people and dogs. It’s not aggressive; I just get so excited!

Great news! I am fully housetrained and make it clear when I need to go out. I love being off leash in the fenced backyard. I also love the sound of my own voice. I have quite the howl. Foster Mom is working with me so I know when to voice my opinion and when to be quiet.

Because of my back, I am very uncomfortable getting into and out of cars and even on car rides. But I more than make up for my mobility issues with endless love to give! If you love senior houndies and have a calm home for me, won’t you contact CBHR and tell them you’d like to learn more about Hazel? I’ll be eagerly waiting to meet you and will greet you with a my wiggly happy dance!
