About Me
*Mabel has been adopted!*
Well, hello there! You may call me Mabel. I’m an 8-year-old girl who came to CBHR after a some nice folks in a neighborhood found me wandering as a stray in a rural area.
I was very unsure when I first arrived in foster care, but I’m a smart cookie and I am figuring it all out. Little by little, my personality is coming out. I haven’t been super cuddly yet, but I follow my fosters around because I know know they have my best interests at heart.
They think I didn’t get a lot of affection wherever I came from (as an aside, CBHR also separately took in two other bassets from the same area – we may all have been dumped), but my fosters are certainly making up for that!
I have some medical issues I need to get taken care of before I’ll be ready to meet my forever family, but CBHR is making sure I get all the care I need. I recently had surgery to remove a growth or abnormality in my mammary gland, and I need to have some dental work done.
My eyes were kind of droopy and needed attention, but I can see just fine. In fact, I easily navigate around the in-ground swimming pool in the backyard.
I’m still trying to get the hang of this thing they call housetraining, and it’s taking a little time. My fosters suggest making sure I got out before bedtime and crating me when people aren’t home or are asleep to reduce the chances of an accident. I am trying really hard to learn, though, because I want to meet my forever family.
On the plus side, my fosters say I have been a polite houseguest and don’t chew on anything. They also say I walk pretty well on a leash, although I take things slowly. I get along well with the other dog and the cat in the house, although I will chase a cat if it runs from me.
Won’t you take a look and see if maybe I could be your forever houndie? I’m making progress every day and I am so very grateful to be in the care of my wonderful foster parents.
Keep checking in on me, Mabel!
