About Me
Look at this face! Who could resist it? They call me Hootie, and I’m a sweet guy once you get to know me, but I will need a very special home. I came to CBHR a bit underweight, but I’m putting on some weight now. After only a day at my first foster home, I became attached to my foster mom. I whined or cried when she left and sometimes tried to go with her, but I am working on my separation anxiety. That is important, because I have can be a little destructive when no one is around.
I am timid when strangers come to visit, and I am a little skittish around men.
I also would not do well with men or children. I have a tendency to get overly excited when my people come home, and we are working on helping me be a little less exuberant.
I love my bed and blanket, and I’m a pretty smart hound. I know where the treats are kept and will sit quietly while waiting for someone to dispense them. I also have learned how to use the doggie door and will grumble if I need to go out and it’s not open for me.
I get along well with the other male basset in the house, and we love to chase each other around. I do not much like the car – I would rather snuggle in your lap for security, so it would be best to use a crate or seatbelt harness for transport.
I’m fairly new to CBHR, so it might be a little while before I’m ready for prime time – adoption, that is. I recently moved in with a new foster family, but my former foster mom said I will be a fantastic hound once I become more acclimated and work on my confidence. If you are interested in this handsome guy and want to know more about my progress, contact CBHR and ask for Hootie!
