About Me
I am Beau! My foster family has described me as “the most normal basset” they have known.
I am friendly, do well with people, other dogs, and am very gentle with children. I like to be outside in a fenced yard and do not bark when I’m there. I am well acclimated to my crate and sleep, eat, and stay there when left alone. I do have some minor separation anxiety if left alone, exhibiting by barking and whining for a period of time.
I am a typical food opportunist if food is available. As a result, I should be fed separately, and typically I eat in my crate. For this reason, it is best not to try to take something from my mouth, but I am pretty good about trading my latest find for a tasty treat offered to me. I will attempt to counter surf, but I quickly respond to verbal corrections.
I have been working on my leash walking and am getting pretty good at it. My nose likes to wander but I am good about staying with the people. I am even well-behaved when my 7-year-old foster human walks me.
