About Me

I am Carli! My foster mom says I am a sweet and loving dog.

I like to be around people and “under foot.”  I like to sit at my foster mom’s feet and look up at her. Occasionally I’ll nudge her to let her know I am still here. When I am not following my people around the house, I will most likely be sleeping. I do like to be petted and love playing with other dogs. I am doing well learning to walk on a leash. My house training is going really well!  I let my foster mom know when I need to go outside. I did really well with the kids I met, and I didn’t even mind the cat.

Here are some things about me and my crate: I LOVE MY CRATE! I sleep quietly in a crate in the bedroom – but I prefer the crate door left open. I run to the crate at bedtime and will sleep there all night with the crate door open. I don’t like being left alone in a crate and will bark and whine and will attempt to chew my way out. I am also comforted by having another dog in a crate sleeping near me.

I have good potty manners as long as you understand my signals, and I do wake up in the middle of the night to go out.

I am kind toward children but don’t like it when they are boisterous. I am not aggressive but am terrified of loud noises and prefer a calm, quiet environment. My crate is my safe haven, as long as the door remains open.

I am not your typical lap dog – I do not like being picked up or being held. I will let you pick me up, but then I will drop to the ground. My foster mom will put me in the bed in the mornings, but I am still guarded. My preferred place is on the floor right next to you.  I do have mobility issues with stairs so would prefer a home without them.

Now that I am more familiar with my foster family, I spend more time with them while they are hanging out together. Although I don’t return affection, I now love to snuggle with the people or nap with them. I have a bed by the window and love to watch the people from my spot when they are outside.

My ideal home would have another dog I can snuggle up to and people who are home most of the time. I am hard of hearing, so you may need to clap to get my attention.
