About Me
Liberty was not with CBHR long. We got Liberty out of the shelter today, July 4, and rushed her to the emergency clinic. She weighed only 24 pounds and had pale gums. Despite the efforts of the doctors who worked so hard, she was in end stage kidney failure. There was nothing that modern medicine could do to help her. It breaks our heart that on a day we should be celebrating Liberty’s freedom from a sad situation, we instead had to help her to the bridge.
Losing hounds comes with the world of rescue. It’s been a long time since we tried to save one that just got to us too late. Liberty was one of those poor babies. I think I knew in my heart that she was dying when I picked her up but we, CBHR, had to try. Leaving the emergency vet with hope that she had a chance only to learn 20 minutes later that her body organs were shutting down and she was not going to survive was like getting kicked in the stomach. Yeah, I can’t help getting attached to these poor, innocent hounds. To those of you that posted about this sweet girl, prayed and donated for her care, thank you. Your support and generosity allowed her to die with dignity, surrounded with love. Thanks for the calls, texts and messages today. I have not been up to talking and I hope you all understand. If we got another call today, I’d do it all over again. Fly high, and play pain free at the 🌈 Bridge, sweet Liberty. Know that you were loved by an awful lot of folks who were there for you.
