October 18 – 20, 2013
Kure Beach, NC
Wondering about Waddle? Are you ready for something new?
Then Get your Wilmington Waddle on!
But it’s not Charleston and Folly Beach! No, it’s Kure Beach, Carolina Beach, and the city of Wilmington, NC, with their own oceanfront charm and history. The Wilmington Waddle will offer three days of activities including the Salty Paws event, and an exciting new activity called the Basset Derby. The highlight of the weekend will be our first-ever Casino Night, offering two events in one at the Inlet Watch Marina. Las Vegas-style casino games, hors d’oeuvres, a full bar, free soft drinks, a live auction, and music will be split over two levels of the clubhouse. CBHR attendees will receive 25 free poker chips to play with to try your hand at poker, blackjack, and roulette.
But I love the Tides! Instead of navigating hotel rooms and elevators, you can opt to stay in rental studios, cottages, or houses through Palm Air Realty. It’s not a hotel, but more a home away from home, with bedrooms, sitting areas, and kitchens, which might just be a little more comfortable for you and your hounds. Want to save money for raffle baskets, other Waddle events, or sight-seeing? Split the rent with friends and party all weekend. Rental properties range from $79.00 to $145.00 per night, and are big enough to share with friends. We love the Tides too, but our group room rate for this year would have been $179.00 per night before pet deposit and taxes!
The Waddle website will be up and running by the end of this week. It will include links to Palm Air Realty and other rental agencies, a detailed weekend itinerary, t-shirt information, and on-line registration.
We know everyone loves Charleston, Folly Beach, and the Parade. This year’s Charleston Parade date falls on the Sunday of Thanksgiving Weekend, so we’ve come up with something different, but still familiar. Your Waddle Committee is working hard to host an enjoyable Waddle weekend while raising as much money as we can for the hounds. Your support has carried us far, and we hope to add to that momentum by hosting a public event as part of this year’s Waddle. Please join us as we head to Kure Beach and Wilmington to Waddle On!
