About Me

My eight years before arriving at the shelter are a mystery. What is known is that even though I love to be around people, my health was neglected. Despite my list of medications, I am a sweet and loyal guy, quickly bonding with my foster parents, following them all around the house. Just like all bassets, I enjoy belly rubs and getting treats. My other good qualities are walking perfectly on a leash, and only barking if I can’t locate my people.

So far, I’m taking my medicine like a good boy. My foster parents are keeping me on a routine and feeding me good food twice a day.

My medication, including Prozac, helps me be a happier hound, but I don’t like angry voices (does anyone?) or loud noises – they cause me to bark defensively. However, I am not aggressive, just vocal.

I love to play with my toys and am a master at chewing out those noisy squeakers. I also enjoy sleeping on the couch and sunning on the deck. Car rides are the best!

I am in good health, thanks to my meds, and I will need a family that helps me keep up with those needs. Consistency in commands and responses are a must.

I like children and gravitate toward them on walks, but I have a tendency toward extreme overprotectiveness if someone is being stern with them. I really enjoy being with other dogs as long as they aren’t too rambunctious – I’m a guy who likes to chill.

Overall, I am a great basset, but I will need a home where the people understand my special needs and are willing and able to provide the structure and peace I prefer. I am doing very well in my current foster home as a solo basset.

I’m looking for that special person or family who can bring out the very best version of me.
