About Me

*Sweet Lucy went to the bridge on January 27, 2023. Wag that tail and run free, Lucy!*

I am Lucy! I am a bagel hound (basset and beagle).  My foster mom says I am “an absolute sweetheart.”

My favorite thing in the world is being petted – by everybody! Adults and kids of all sizes. The more, the merrier! I am very well mannered, house trained and use a doggie door.  I like to walk on a leash and sniff and get pets from everyone on the street. My foster mom thinks I must have lived outside in my previous life because I love to wander in my backyard, lay on the porch, and sit in the yard to take in the nature around me.

I don’t bark, dig, or chew…. I just like to chill. I also make the perfect office dog – I will sit and wait for the next person to come in and pet me. Since I am half beagle, it is not good to let me loose as I like to wander.I don’t like to share my bed with other dogs – I will let out a little bark if someone tries to take my bed. I am otherwise calm and love attention.

I have been truly blessed, despite serious medical challenges. You see, I have an inoperable thyroid tumor that requires chemotherapy treatments for the rest of my life. Fortunately, CBHR has taken me in as a Forever Foster, which means I will get the care I need and live out my days in a loving foster home.

CBHR has made Lucy a “Forever Foster” because it seems unlikely that someone will adopt her with the medical expenses, and she is happy and thriving in her foster home. Lucy has more than shown her appreciation by giving back to those who love her and those who need her.

Foster Mom is the office administrator at a church and takes me to work with her. She says I am the perfect office dog, and I love to wait in the doorway so people will pet me when they come in.

The children at the church preschool also love me also, and they raised money to help with my treatment! They even asked me to be in their Christmas pageant. I made the perfect little lamb.

I also appeared in several of the story-time videos that were created for the children when they were out of school. My latest accomplishment is being certified as a therapy dog! I am so proud to be a  CBHR ambassador!

At age 9,  I still have many good years ahead of me as long as I remain on her medication.
