Some dog names just seem to fit, but in my case how I came by “Jabber” in not quite clear. I just arrived at my CBHR foster home as a stray, so my history is a bit unclear. My foster parents say I don’t talk or bark a lot so that can’t be it. They sometimes call me “Hoss” because they say I am a BBB (big boned basset) and refer to me a young gentle giant. They also seem to think my frame will handle my current weight of 50 lbs, plus a little. I suppose how much a “little” turns out to be remains to be seen .

Other things my foster family report are I am very gentle, learn quickly, and love to play. There are several other dogs in my foster home, and we get along just fine. I like people and have done well with my limited exposure to kids. I guess that’s because I am just a kid myself. Being young and impressionable I am learning to respond to verbal commands and some avoidance behaviors. Surfing that countertop is some much fun, though…. I am also learning the small details of housebreaking. I understand a doggie door just fine but need to learn some peeing etiquette in case one is not available. I don’t have any experience with a crate but can probably learn if needed. I absolutely don’t like the rain, but what right-minded basset does?

So, all in all, I am a good looking, easy going and fun pup. I will make a great addition to a forever family who is looking for a promising basset superstar. Why don’t you get in touch with the CBHR and find out more. Meanwhile, I’ll be hanging out looking for a few snacks.
