About Me

Why, hello there! My name’s Fred, and I am one sweet hound dog. I’m 5 years old, extremely friendly and I sure do love to ride in the car! I also love to be outdoors with all the smells, so a forever family with a fenced yard would be my ideal situation.

I’m settling into my foster home very well, and I get along with the other dog in the house. I walk pretty well on a leash, but when I see a squirrel, I just have to pull on it to try to give chase. Other than that, I’m a very good boy.

I don’t particularly like to go in my crate, and I tend to whine or howl for a few minutes before finally settling in. Now, here’s the biggest thing I need to work on: I am terrified of the vet. I got so scared when they took me to see the doggie doc that I had to be sedated to stop me from snapping. I’m hoping that once I get used to the people there, I will settle down a bit, but it does take time.

Like most bassets, I love the sound of my own voice and bark when I come back inside to tell everyone what I saw and did while I was sniffing around the yard. My fosters are some of the really dedicated CBHR foster families who take us bassets in and work with us to help us get ready to be part of a forever family.

I’m also a bit skinny, so I’m trying to gain a few pounds. I hope I will be ready soon, so keep checking back on my progress! If you think this boy might be the dog for you, contact CBHR and tell them Fred sent you!
