Hi! I’m the new little boy in CBHR. I’m a 4 month old basset hound mix puppy. No one knows exactly who my daddy was, but my foster mom says she can see dachshund traits in me. I’m lean, long and can run very fast and jump high too – I’m a puppy. I have a special story to tell. I was found wandering alone in January, scared and very hungry. I was saved by the nice folks at animal control. The shelter vet found me emaciated and my little collar was so tight it was choking me. I went to a special shelter foster home for 2 months where I had plenty of food ,vet care and tried to be not so afraid.
When I was 3 and ½ months old, the friends of the shelter group decided I would need a special home and contacted CBHR for help finding me just the right home. My foster mom says I need a home with another dog who will continue to teach me, be my companion, and sometimes my courage. You see new people and places still can make me a tad nervous. I’m learning to be a proper member of a loving family. A home with young children or a lot of activity would not be a good home for me. I’m progressing nicely with my potty training. I have good days when I go outside all the time and other days when I forget – I’m still learning. Every day I learn new things. We go on short leash walks out into the big world so I can get more comfortable being out and about and around people. I run and play a lot with my foster sister and toys , then I like to take naps in a nice, comfortable lap. Foster sister is teaching me things I missed from my real mom. I’m proud to say most nights I sleep through the night in my own bed. If you have a securely fenced backyard, I could run zoomies and play with you. I try to do that now but my leash isn’t long enough. I’m young and a work in progress but with patience and effort I will be a great family member very soon. I’m eager to learn and once I settle in with you, I’ll love you and trust you forever. I love attention and being with you.
If you think you might be the right forever home for me, fill out the adoption application on www.cbhr.com and ask for me – Drake. In the meanwhile, enjoy some photos of me, taken when I decided to be still. I look forward to hearing from you. 04/18/17
