About Me

*Darla is one Happy Hound! She has been adopted!*

Hello, CBHR fans! My name’s Darla, and I came to CBHR as one of 12 houndies who came from an owner who could no longer physically take care of us. But I need a home without children where I am the only pet.

I’m a former outdoor dog, but I am sure learning to like living indoors. I particularly enjoy being a lapdog, and I like toys and initiating playtime. My foster mom named me Darla because I am such a “rascal” in the mold of those Little Rascals from the way-back days.

However, my foster people say it is imperative that I be the only dog in a household because I am aggressive with other dogs. For that reason, I also should be placed in a home with no children.

I’m just under 5 years old and have lots of energy. I love me some zoomies, but then I also like to just chill and rest.

I growl and snap when you disturb my slumber. The people at CBHR said it’s called a “sleep startle reflex,” and I should not be allowed to sleep on sofas or other furniture. What I need is my own bed that is only mine, and I need to feel secure. If you must wake me, I need you to call my name from across the room and give me time to wake up.

Although my foster family is working with me, I need an adopter who understands and respects my boundaries and who can help me feel safe.

Even though I was an outdoor dog, I am already housetrained, and I’m getting some more instruction on indoor manners from my foster folks.

I’m on hold right now while my foster works with me, but I hope to be ready for my forever home soon, so if you are interested in a rascally, playful hound, contact CBHR and ask for Darla!
