It’s me Dixie, your new Foster Dog of the Week. I bet you couldn’t wait to see who the new dog of the week was! I am a senior Southern Belle looking for my forever home. I am a mellow gal that comes house trained and everything. I like other dogs just fine but I am a real people person. I love to entertain and have people over. That way there are more people around to give me attention and rub my belly.
My foster family says I sometimes have what they call my “bossy bark” Here is how they describe it “She does have what we call her bossy bark. She barks to let us know she wants to go out, and she barks to come back in. When she’s ready she means right away. Occasionally she will just take a mood to bark at us for a minute with some unclear need or expression of disdain.” I am just a chatty girl who knows what she wants and when she wants it. If you know anything about basset girls you know we are all bossy-butt princesses who think the world revolves around us In the morning before I go out I have to make the rounds in my house to check on everyone and make sure they are OK. Are you looking for a no fuss dog who is totally house trained. Maybe you have another dog who could use a little company while you are gone.
I know I am on the older side, but I am healthy and would be a really fun addition to your home. Us senior dogs still have a lot of life left in us and a lot of love to give. Don’t rule us out in your search for a dog just because of our age. Sometimes we are just what you need and you didn’t even know it. We all want a forever home where we can claim our favorite spot on the couch with our family. Check out my profile. Just ask for Dixie the Southern Belle, bossy-butt princess party girl extraordinaire.

Hi, My name is Fred. I’m a 3-4 year old basset mix that enjoys playing with people and other dogs. I’m not so sure about cats and those short humans; just not a lot of experience with them so I might need some help if you have any of those in your pack. I am housebroken and don’t bark much. I like to walk on a leash and I am very affectionate and love to have a lot of people time. My family has gone through some changes and I’m looking for a new home. I’m currently living with my human sister in Boone, NC, but she can’t keep me long term. Please call my mom if you think we’d be a good match! Fred is neutered, and current vet records can be provided with adoption. Please contact Dena for more information. firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-930-6106. 03/03/12
Doc is a basset/beagle mix. Around 2 – 3 years old, neutered, great with cats and dogs, and up-to-date on shots. The contact is Jenny at 910.386.6404. Thanks! 01/14/13
Desi is an estimated 6 year old basset hound/beagle mix, approx 30lbs. She was rescued from a North Carolina kill shelter in January of 2013 and is now looking for a forever family! Desi is spayed, Heartworm negative, and is UTD on all her vaccines. She received a dental cleaning at intake and a clean bill of health! Desi is a great companion for humans of all ages and loves to play with other dogs. Adoption is available through Carolina Canine Rescue; a 501c3 Non profit rescue group out of Mt. Airy, NC. There is an adoption fee that will help cover some of the costs associated with her medical care. For more information please contact Melanie Morrison at 336-786-5256. Desi is currently in foster care in Mt. Airy, NC. Transport is available within North and South Carolina. 03/05/13
Looking for the sweetest pal around? I’m about 8 years old and in great shape! I love to play with my toys, go for walks, and go play with my friends at the dog park, but nothing makes me happier than being part of the pack! Lying around the house sitting next to you or on your lap, if you’re cool with that, or just curling up by your feet is my idea of a great time. I’m a goofy guy who lets my nose lead the way and gets along with just about anyone and anything. I grew up with other dogs, cats and even a couple of pigs! Thunder might be the only thing I’m not a fan of. My perfect home would be one where I would have pals and/or people around a bunch to hang out with. I used to have seizures, but they are well controlled with medicine now. I have all my medical records and have been very well cared for. My dad hates the thought of me leaving, but he’s moving and wants the best for me! Send my dad an e-mail at email@example.com if you want me to be your guy! 4/3/12
